South West Food & Drink Background
South West Food & Drink Ltd (SWFD) was set up in 2002 by the South West of England Regional Development Agency (SWRDA), which also presently funds the organisation. SWFD is based at Darts Farm, Topsham, Exeter. The main focus for SWFD activity is on the food and drink processors and the marketing/distribution of products to their customers e.g. retailers and food service caterers. In other words, all the activities that take place after the farm gate through to the trade end user. The organisation employs 10 members of staff and is governed by a Board of up to 14 non-executive directors and observers most of whom are also directors of South West food & drink companies.
Our Vision
The South West of England in 2015 will be the UK's leading food and drink region.
A region with the most successful and sustainable producers offering unrivalled product choice.
A region with a thriving, competitive, innovative and sustainable Food & Drink sector supplying safe, nutritious and enjoyable food.
A region with a customer base that recognises the importance of a viable food chain to the long term sustainability of the South West, its environment and its communities.
A region that is the automatic first choice for trade buyers seeking new suppliers.
A region with a strong and sustainable farming sector that understands the requirements of the processor, the caterer, the retailer and the end consumer.
A region with a firmly-established and high profile food culture, supported by all involved in the food chain including consumers, pubs and restaurants; a place which tourists visit because of the quality of its food.
